Maryland Healthy Smiles Dental Program
The Maryland Healthy Smiles Dental Program (MHSDP) provides dental care to eligible Medicaid members. Medicaid covers a wide range of dental services. A benefits management company runs the program for Medicaid.
There are no premiums, deductibles, or copays for covered services. There is no maximum benefit amount each year. MHSDP members should never pay for covered services out of pocket.
- Some Services Must need Prior Pre Authorization By the primary dentist. Final decision pending base on State, after the primary dentist send all the information require.
- None irrigations of Temporaries for crows are Covered by this program.
Eligibility
Everyone with full Medicaid coverage is eligible for the MHSDP. If you have a red and white Medicaid card, you have full Medicaid coverage.

- Teeth cleaning - Depending of the Cleaning will need a Pre- Authorization
- Fluoride treatments
- X-rays
- Fillings
- Root canals - will need Pre-Authorization after Diagnostic
- Crowns - will need Pre-Authorization - after Diagnostic
- Pulling teeth - extractions
- Anesthesia

The MHSDP does not cover:
- Experimental procedures
- Cosmetic procedures
- Dentures for adults 21+
- Night Guards or Sport guards
- Implants or bone graft
- whitening or cosmetical procedures
- Valtplast or Flexible Dentures or 3D dentures Designs
